HIGH CENSUS NIGHT RATIOS, QUEENSLAND HIGH CENSUS NIGHT RATIOS, Local Government Areas, Queensland, 2011
The Census Night population of Carpentaria had a large number of people over the age of 50, as shown in the population pyramid below. These may be retired travellers: commonly known as "grey nomads" (see ABS Review of Counting the Homeless Methodology 2011, cat. no. 2050.0.55.002, for details on how this population is defined by ABS). Other LGAs that also had relatively large numbers of people aged over 50 years in the Census Night population included Longreach and Flinders in Queensland and Exmouth and Northampton in Western Australia.
